Virginia Aviation Foundation has 2 scholarships valued at $1000 each for a student who plans to pursue an aviation-related career. The student must have a minimum 2.8 GPA and return all application materials by March 15.

The Communications Disorder Foundation has a scholarship for a senior who is hearing impaired, who has at least a B average, and who plans to pursue education beyond high school. The award is $1000 this year. For more information, please go by guidance.

The Thomas S. Ely American Legion Scholarship is accepting applications until April 14. The application must be returned to Guidance.

Southwest Virginia Alumni Association for Lincoln Memorial University has a scholarship available. The deadline is April 1. Go to Guidance for more information.

Delta Kappa Gamma is accepting applications from students who have chosen teaching as a career. The application requires a short statement about why you have chosen teaching. The deadline to have these applications returne to Guidance is April 10.

The Lee County Education Association is accepting applications for a scholarship for a student who is pursuing a career in teaching. Applications are due in guidance by April 15.

The Tobacco Commission is accepting applications online at www.vatobaccocommission.org and will only be accepted online. For information, please go by guidance.

Ford C. Quillen Scholarship applications are available in guidance. To qualify you must attend MECC or UVA's College at Wise. The scholarship must be postmarked by April 1.

The Cancer Outreach Foundation will award up to $5000 in scholarship(s) to a cancer survivor or a child/sibling of a cancer survivor. The deadline to have the application mailed to the foundation is April 27.

The Sister Anne Christina Trust Fund is accepting applications for scholarship grants worth $500 each. To qualify, the applicant must be enrolled or enroll at MECC or UVA's College at Wise and plan on pursuing a career in the medical arts field. A 250 word essay is required. Applications must be received by the committee by March 27. For an application, go to guidance.

Joseph E. Harmon Memorial Scholarship is available in guidance. To qualify, applicants must be accepted to Virginia Tech and be interested in agriculture. The deadline is April 10.

The Keokee Alumni Association is accepting applications. Students who attended Keokee Elementary School who meet eligibility requirements may apply. Applications are available in guidance and must be returned to guidance by April 15.

Pennington Gap Woman’s Club is accepting applications for a $500 scholarship. Applications are available in guidance and must be mailed to the Scholarship Committee by May 1.

The Carol Fouts Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the Pennington Gap Woman’s Club is now accepting applications. Applicants must be in a two-year program at LCCTC, show financial need, show academic achievement, and have the probability of being a two-year program graduate. Applications are available in guidance and must be mailed to the Scholarship Committee by May 1.

The Mildred Mason Memorial Scholarship Foundation is accepting applications that are postmarked by April 1. Applicants must be planning on a career in the health care field. Applications are available in Guidance.

Any senior who lives in public housing may apply for scholarships through the housing authority. Applications and more information are available in guidance. Deadlines vary per application.

ETSU has honors programs available to exceptional students who score high on the SAT or ACT. If you plan to attend ETSU, contact them to see if you qualify for the Honors program in your program of study.

Applications for in-state tuition at ETSU are available in Guidance. To qualify you must have 21 ACT composite score or a combined score of 990 on the SAT.

UVA at Wise scholarship applications are available in Guidance. The chemistry Scholarship deadline is March 15, and the Miner’s Family Scholarship applications deadline date is April 1.

Micron Technology Foundation is accepting applications for scholarships from students who plan to enter the engineering field. See guidance or www.micron.com/scholars .

Students whose parents have Farm Bureau Insurance who are interested in human health-related careers are eligible to enter 2007 Rural Health Essay Contest. Go to your county Farm Bureau office or www.vafb.com . Deadline is March 31.

Virginia Athletic Trainers Association has a $1000 scholarship for a senior who is interested in pursuing a career in the Allied Health Profession of Athletic Training. See guidance for details.

The Marine Corps Scholarship foundation is accepting applications until March. Applications are available in guidance.

Virginia Tech is accepting applications for the Pamplin Scholars Program. For an application, go to Guidance.

Southwest Virginia Emergency Medical Services Council, Inc. is accepting applications for a regional scholarship. Deadline is March 15.

CITC is accepting applications for a national scholarship. Entry forms are available in guidance and the deadline is April 11.

Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance is accepting applications for Achievement Awards. Applications must be returned to Guidance by March 5.

St. Charles has two Alumni Association Scholarship available to students who attended St. Charles Elementary school before attending Lee High. See Guidance.

Blankenship Justice Scholarship is accepting applications. Applicants must be a dependent of a coal miner or seeking a degree in a field reasonably related to the promotion of coal mine safety and health. Deadline is March 30.

Applications for the Granville P. Meade Scholarship are due March 2.

James Madison University has a scholarship for a female freshman. See Ms. Parsons.

The CITE-VA Scholarship is accepting applications until March 10. Applicants must be African American.

The American Fire Sprinkler Association has a scholarship available. See Guidance for more information. Deadline is March 1, 2007.

Virginia Chapter of Soil and Water Conservation Society is accepting applications for scholarships. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate an active interest in conservation. Applications are due at the SWCD Offices by March 1.

Lowe’s has scholarships available. The website is lowes.com/scholarships. The access key is LOWES. The deadline for applications is March 1 .

Applications for the Grand Lodge of Masons from the Commonwealth of Virginia are available in Guidance. Deadline for applications is March 1.

SAMMY 2007 Scholarship applications are available at www.bodybymilk.com until March 9, 2007. Applicants must be athletes who excel scholastically and who demonstrate leadership skills and are also involved in community service.

Students who plan to attend the University of Virginia in Charlottesville qualify for the Thomas Quinn Academic Scholarship of $2000 renewable for four years. The deadline to apply is January 2, 2007. Apply to the College and contact undergraduate admissions for more information at 434.982.3200 for more information.

Slemp Scholarship applications are available in guidance. The deadline to have the counselor recommendation form to Ms. Parsons. Deadline is October 7, 2005.

The Roan Scholars Leadership Program is accepting applications. To qualify, applicants must attend East Tennessee State University. The selection will be based on evidence of character, leadership, scholarship, and physical activity. Deadline is October 10, 2005.

Students who will be attending the University of Virginia at Charlottesville may apply for the Jefferson Scholar award. Students will be selected based on GPA, SAT/ACT test scores, leadership, and citizenship. Two essays (one on leadership and a personal essay) are required. The deadline to have this completed and submitted to guidance is October 21.

One senior will be nominated for the Harry F. Byrd Leadership award. The senior will be selected based on written responses to five questions, academic excellence, leadership, character, and duty. Applications for the nomination are available in Guidance. The deadline to have the application in guidance is November 11, 2005.

Westmoreland Scholarship applications are availabe in guidance. Students will be selected based on their transcripts, extracurricular activities, ACT or SAT test scores, financial need, academic achievement (GPA), character, and leadership. The deadline to have these applications to guidance is November 14.

Applications are now being accepted for the Toyota Community Scholars Scholarship. Only one student application per school may be submitted for this scholarship. You must have your application returned to the guidance department by November 21, 2005, to be considered for the nomination.


The AXA Foundation is accepting Acheivement Scholarship applications from this year's seniors. To qualify, students should be well-rounded, determined to succeed, and have demonstrated achivement at a job, sport, or extracurricular activity. The application may be downloaded at www.axa-achievement.com. No applications are available in guidance. Deadline is December 15, 2005.

The Better Business Bureau is offering the Student of Integrity Scholarship Award.
Deadline is December 15.

Applications are now being accepted for the Lee-Jackson Scholarship. Entrants must write an essay on Robert E. Lee or Stonewall Jackson. The deadline to have the application to Guidance is January 6, 2006. Please ask for an application in Guidance.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is accepting scholarship application forms on line through January 20, 2006.
