About this website.

This website was designed by Justin Ingram for the Lee County Career and Technical Center chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America. This website was designed with inter-operability amongst all modern browsers and operating systems in mind.

To meet the goals of this website, it was designed using Strict XHTML and CSS 2.1 to ensure proper rendering in browsers. To ensure that effects work cross-browser, JavaScript libraries were implemented. All of these libraries were released under the General Public License or the MIT License. These Licenses are only for free software that anyone can use as they see fit. Specifically, the Jquery JavaScript library is the base, with plug-in to extend functionality. The website has been tested and ensured to work in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer versions 7 and 8, and Apple's Safari. It also works in Internet Explorer 6 with slight misplacement of some elements that do not affect functionality due to CSS issues known to exist in that browser, despite standards compliant code being used in the site. These errors are very minimal, and where possible, have been fixed with coding alternatives. Where rendering errors are unavoidable, features are altered in real time with JavaScript to ensure proper operation.

To ensure that these standards are met, a W3C button has been placed on each page that will direct a user to the validation site maintained by the W3C. The validation website does a check and reports any problems to the user that are found with the page. This step was taken to ensure accountability in the creation of the website. Both the XHTML and the CSS used by this site can be validated with their respective buttons on the bottom right corner of each screen.

Additionally, this website has been tested without JavaScript and images to ensure a functioning website even under conditions that are not ideal. JavaScript and images are to make the site more appealing, but are not necessary for its functioning, thereby greatly extending the scope of potential browsers and operating systems.

To ensure that the website performs to its fullest potential, all JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets were minified, which greatly reduces the size of the initial download needed to view the website and decreases the page load time significantly.
