Education
Lee County
Head Start utilizes the High Scope approach to education. The principle
elements of this approach are the plan-do-review process, the ten key
experiences which include many indicators, and a strong element of problem
solving development.
Special Needs
Lee County Head Start and Lee County schools work together in
finding, referring, assessing, and serving all children identified as, or
suspected of, having a disability. Services may include individual
counseling, medication, prosthetic devices, physical therapy, speech therapy,
or a behavior modification plan (speech and language delays are recognized by
Head Start as disabling conditions).
Nutrition
Lee County Head Start offers nutrition assessments for each child,
food experiences, and free breakfast, snack, and lunch.
Health- Physical and Dental
Lee County Head Start contracts with Stone Mountain Health, Western Lee County
HC, and Frontier Health to offer physical, dental, and counseling services for
those children that do not have available insurance.

parents to volunteer with their children at the center. Parents may also
serve on committees. Please contact our Parent Involvement Manager
