Special Education Advisory Committee
The Special Education Advisory Committee is made up of parents, community members, and agency representatives. The purpose of the committee is to advise the school division of unmet needs in the education of students with disabilities, assist in the formulation and development of plans for improving performance of students with disabilities, participate in the development of priorities and strategies for meeting the special needs of students with disabilities, submit periodic reports and recommendations regarding the education of students with disabilities to the superintendent for transmission to the school board, assist in interpreting plans to the community for meeting the special needs of students with disabilities for educational services and review the policies and procedures for the provision of special education services prior to submission to the school board and the Virginia Department of Education.
